Joy Farm is located in West Plymouth, Massachusetts and is an example of a gardening trend to using suburban yards to better capability to grow local, fresh, organic produce. This sort of “farm” is what we’re calling a Life Stream Farm. The idea is to get back to the basics of an organic kitchen garden for salad vegetables and herbs. Joy Farm is located on a 170 x 120 foot lot, slightly under one half acre. The back and side yards are being used to raise a dense organic variety of cooking and storage crops plus an abundance of herbs for cooking and teas.

Using raised bed gardening techniques and renewable compost from each year’s leaf fall and lawn clippings, we are able to improve the depth and organic quality of our soils each year, resulting in greater yields and an ever improving organic environment. We aggressively reuse non-meat cooking scraps and leftovers to enhance the mineral variety of our compost piles plus special locally available mulches.

The result is better yields every year, continual improvement of the soil and the rewarding satisfaction of eating and storingproduce that you yourself have grown.

We offer produce, compost tea, composting guidance, raised bed design, layout, installation and servicing and year round garden planning and advice.

Our web site (currently in very early construction mode) will offer week by week gardening tips and a place of community to share tips and techniques on better methods for turning the Plymouth Bay Area into a leading edge organic gardening community.

Our future plans include indoor hydroponic and aeroponic in-door year-round production of herbs and leaf crops using renewable resources to support vertical gardening with supplemental low wattage state-of-the-art lighting systems, aeroponic misting and ebb and flow hydroponic techniques.
